The Shaping Futures Model

Three professions.
One young person.

Comprehensive support no single professional can offer alone. We organise midwives, teachers and psychologists around each adolescent — covering the body, the mind and the knowledge they need.

Midwives

Accurate clinical knowledge on sexual and reproductive health — from puberty to pregnancy prevention to safe care.

Teachers

Age-appropriate education delivered in schools using approved, Uganda-curriculum-aligned materials.

Psychologists

Emotional resilience and mental wellbeing support — building safe spaces and healthy decision-making.

= Comprehensive support no single professional can offer alone

The promise that became a mission

A promise made at 19.
A mission for every Ugandan teenager.

“At nineteen, I became a teenage mother — pregnant with twins, terrified, with no one to turn to. The shame, the silence, the confusion were my companions. But I made a promise: if I survived this, no young person would ever feel that alone again.”

— Mrs Betty Najjuuko

Betty kept that promise. She trained as a midwife, a social worker, and in public health — building the knowledge that would underpin a multidisciplinary model bringing midwives, teachers and psychologists around the adolescent.

In December 2023, that promise became Musawo Betty Care and Research Centre — and the Shaping Futures workshops began at Nsangi. Today the centre has reached over 2,000 young people across Wakiso District.
